The hedgehog cover looks cute, isn’t it? So, let me introduce you to the hedgehog name is Piyyut, our main character in this book. Yes, he’s cute, but don’t let his cuteness fool you because the whole story in this book is so messed up! I have put a trigger warning so read at your own risk.
Well, my thoughts for this book is not totally an enjoyable reading, but it compels me to read it. Apart from that, the writing is great as I had once read Sayaka Murata previous book before this, and this time it’s quite ‘fun’ to read the story. I mean, I can’t exactly say that I enjoyed it, but yeah, what a ride 😮💨 (I lost count on how many I swore while reading this book 🙂) Honestly, at first, I thought I would not feel disturbed and unbothered the part when Natsuki have been assaulted but when it reaches the part when she has grown up and started to build a family with her husband who actually believes he is also an alien like her, things going much worse. I can see this book has similarities with another book by Sayaka Murata, Convenience Store Women, which both have the same main characters who are in their thirties and do not conform to the expected views of society. However, I can’t decide which of these two books are good because both are worth reading as it conveys an impactful message to the reader. So, my dear friends who haven’t read this book yet, you can give it a try as it is one of the bizarre and sensational Japanese literature stories that I haven’t read. It was a crazy plot and characters, but it was ‘good’ though. And again, I have put trigger warning up there, so read on your own risk, okay? 😏
