In an Absent Dream by Seanan McGuire

4.0

In an Absent Dream is the 4th instalment in the Wayward Children series which follows different kids who enter mysterious doors which lead to different worlds.

This was such a mystical and endearing read and I really thought that McGuire combined the naive and innocent nature of children, with some important social topics in a very well realised way.
Lundy has a very important story where by the age of 6, her entire life has been planned out by her parents, a life she doesn’t want. I thought the discussion on sisterhood, both blood and found was excellent.

Simply put this was a truly excellent whimsical tale and one of the better ones within this series. I really enjoyed McGuire’s writing style which really helps create these magical novellas.
