Kyland by Mia Sheridan

Kyland has resonated with me in such a deeply profound way, that it’s impossible to break my connection. This story has imprinted itself on my mind and body, and I feel so deeply honoured to have shared in Tenleigh and Kyland, their experiences, their struggles, their strength, their sacrifice, and their perseverance to overcome the constraints of their circumstances.
Tenleigh and Kyland are more than a love story, they are the embodiment of two souls determined to break the cycle of poverty, to build a life for their self, to find their meaning, and to show the strength of love by willingly making sacrifices.
“I do go to hell. Every day. For you.”
A heartbreakingly beautiful narrative that left me with such powerful emotions (in the best way), that forced me to contemplate and consider my own life, my meaning and worth in the world.
Tenleigh and Kyland are a testament to that. Kyland’s own perceptions of his unworthiness broke me fiercely. But, knowing Tenleigh and her utter selflessness trying to show Kyland he is worthy, he is deserving — of all his hopes and dreams — is the beauty we need in the world.
And, as a teacher who worked for years in a low socio-economic school, I know Tenleigh is the kind, compassionate teacher the kids deserve — regardless of their circumstances.
Mia’s narrative emphasises an important reminder that “everyone deserves a love story. Everyone. No exceptions. Your station in life doesn’t determine how epic, or beautiful, or inspiring your love story will be.”
“And I’m going to make all your dreams come true. All my life.”
“You already have. You are my dream.”
Kyland is, fundamentally, a story of connection, sacrifice, hope, perseverance, opportunity, and of course, love.
Love will prevail — a powerful message Kyland and Tenleigh have imparted on me. They are etched into my being, and I will always be so grateful to have shared in their experiences, their story.
This caption doesn’t truely capture just how much of a profound impact this story has on me. Just know I think of them often and my life is all the better for having read Kyland
