The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss
4.0

The Name of the Wind is beautifully written and atmospheric, with pacing that kept me engaged and prose that flowed easily. I enjoyed the storytelling style and was never bored, but I also felt like “a lot happened and nothing happened” at the same time, the book reads more like an extended origin story than the start of a trilogy. While I liked the vibe and Kvothe’s voice, the stakes never felt very high, and I was left with more questions than answers about the magic system and the larger conflict. It’s a good book, but given the unfinished state of the series after almost twenty years, I’m not sure I’d recommend it right now despite enjoying the experience.
