Triangle: The Fire That Changed America by David von Drehle

dark informative sad slow-paced

5.0

I’ve been meaning to read this book since I was 14 and it didn’t disappoint. The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire is a moment in history that I know far too much about and I can confidently give this book five stars as it had details even I wasn’t aware of. The story is woven so methodically by setting the scene - from the prospects of America to new immigrants, the history of the shop owners, and the strike that took place just before the fire - every detail paints an essential picture of how this fire made such an impact on history and how the events happening around it led to the fire and subsequent acquittal of the shop owners. Just a fascinating, incredibly well written history.
