What a fun, horrifying ride! Since the preceding novella has a quite similar set up, I feared that this story wouldn't offer anything new but that was definitely not the case! The book takes its time, lays out all the details one could lay out, and (quite like the mermaid myth) lures you in. Just like the novella, this book suffers from overexplaining, but I actually didn't mind as much. You can tell the author is quite passionate about the ocean and its (mythical) creatures, so the details really pulled me in and fascinated me.
