Enchanted to Meet You by Meg Cabot
4.0
I really liked this book, it had such a great build up but then it fizzled out at the end. The only reason it's getting a 4 out of 5. I was expecting way more action than what finally unfolds, but was also partial to the wholesomeness of the story. Which matches the tone and how it's speaks so well to changing the perception of the public towards witches.
Oak Harbor has been under a curse for thousands of years, every 90 years something catastrophic happens due to the towns treatment of witches and the supernatural. Derrick Winters swoops into town to help save it from destruction with the help of the chosen one, Jessica Gold, a cottage witch who runs a clothing store and the bringer of light, Esther who is a 16-year old girl seeking pardon for her ancestors who were accused of witchcraft. When Derrick reveals who they truly are and why he is there he begins to prepare them for the fight ahead. This all takes place during the towns tri-centennial celebration which puts the residents and tourists in grave danger. Within a week Derrick falls in love with Jessica, supernatural occurrences begin to happen around town, and dark forces appear to not match for the light Esther shines.
