I am damaged for the rest of my life.

Holy geez this was so beautiful!! I truly never wanted to put it down, unless I needed to clear the tears from my eyes to see... despite the chapters being pretty long (which I usually don't like).

This story follows Poppy and Rune. At the age of five, they become next-door neighbors and Poppy immediately befriends Rune. Poppy is an outgoing girl who is always up for an adventure and Rune is her broody best friend who would do anything for her. We follow them as they grow and their connection becomes stronger and stronger. At the age of 15, Rune is forced to move away for a bit unexpectedly... This hits both of them really hard since they haven't had a day apart, but it cannot be changed. During their time apart, a lot changed and now it is two years later, they are 17, and Rune is back in town. But neither of them knows how to approach the person who was once their best friend and everything.

This story was insanely beautiful. I honestly had no clue what I was getting myself into...I knew it was sad and that I had the chance to possibly cry but I swear I was not expecting this at all... The way these characters captured my entire heart hurt me! I wanted so badly for the ending to not come because I knew it would shatter me... AND IT DID! Poppy and Rune had my whole heart and their journey was just so amazing to watch. Their emotions were so genuine and I felt every moment they went through together.

Yes, tears were shed. The annotations in this book were also unmatched. I really don't know what else to say besides that it was so heart-breakingly beautiful. I loved every moment of it.
