Faithless in Death
by J.D. Robb
The new JD Robb book has everything: infidelity. Lesbians. Religious cults. Mavis getting cooler and cooler even as she becomes more domestic. The return of Roarke's Very Irish Accent, which has fluctuated a bit throughout the series but is back and stronger than ever.
Let's face it: if you're a series fan, you're going to read this. It's enjoyable. All of the main characters are in top form, the villain is spooky, and there are several terrible people that we somehow emphasize with even though they're the worst. My one wish for the next installment is a return to smaller cases. As fun as it is to watch Dallas take down a huge cult, I miss the days when everyone on the force didn't get involved with every case. Can I get a good pervert Santa, please?
