This was an inspiring story about a deaf high school football team’s drive and resilience. I really enjoyed learning about deaf culture throughout the book—especially the moments that highlighted how being deaf is actually an advantage in many situations, particularly in sports where visual communication is key. There was also a lot of interesting history about how deaf children have been treated and educated over the decades (mostly very poorly, surprising no one). This is a great sports narrative and if you like football, I think you'd really enjoy this (I admit, sometimes my eyes glazed over a little during the football coverage!). I love how this team was able to reinvent the game to win on their own terms.
