Abercrombie does such a phenomenal job immersing you in the harsh gritty realities of medieval warfare. The back and forth, the helplessness, the chaos. He captures that spirit so clearly in this book. His character work is also impeccable, as you learn and grow with these characters during the course of 3 day battle over some rocks. 4.5/5
