Arranged marriage, kingdom politics, enemies to lovers, assassins... it sounded like it had all the right ingredients to be one of my favorites. But now? I have serious beef with this book.
The writing was fine but the pacing was SO FAST! Like why are we skipping over everything important?! I read "8 weeks later" and my jaw dropped. Like no, we're absolutely not doing that. There was also ZERO chemistry between Lara and Aren. How am I supposed to believe they went from enemies to lovers when we're skipping over everything. There was zero tension, zero spark, and their romance was not believable at all.
And Lara? This girly pop pmo so many times I can't even deal with her. Idk if I can keep going in this series.
