Gaston by Kelly DiPucchio, Christian Robinson

5.0

I loved this book, and so did my 4-year-old. We've read it more than a dozen times, and I know that it's one we'll check out again in the future.

Gaston isn't like his sisters. He's more race than grace, more yap than yip. Still, he tries the hardest to learn his lessons and has the biggest smile. One day his family encounters another dog family at the park that seems to be a lot like Gaston, and they have a puppy who seems to belong perfectly with Gaston's mom and sisters. Will the families make some changes? Where does Gaston belong?

This book has adorable illustrations, it's funny, and it takes on gender roles and individuality in a subtle way. Highly recommended!
