This was a re-read for me—I first read it at 16, my first real taste of psychological thriller. And honestly? Just as good the second time around. The suspense is chef’s kiss, and I love how the timeline jumps between past and present using the trial statement to do so.

But beyond the mystery, this book is so emotional. As an older sister, it really hit me—there’s so much about the responsibility you feel to protect your younger siblings, and the overwhelming guilt if something ever happened to them. Had me in tears more than once. Couldn’t recommend it more!
