The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo

If you have no intention of loving or being loved, then the whole journey is pointless.

it has been probably thirteen or so years since i’ve read this. i remember borrowing the hardcover copy from the library in second grade and reading it over and over, staring at the glossy pictures and thinking it was the best book i had ever read. i bought this a couple weeks ago for nostalgia’s sake and feared it wouldn’t hold up because it’s been so long since i’ve read it. but this is still, to me, one of the best children’s books there is. it’s an emotional story about learning what love is through the things we take for granted woven through various experiences and characters. it’s just a lovely book.
