I really liked this book's main character and her struggle with overly-permissive parenting. It was an interesting comment on what teenagers need, and what parents need, and how sometimes children end up parenting their parents. But there were so many loose ends at the end that it was hard to tell if it was meant to create mystery or if it was just sloppiness. Hard to imagine sloppiness from the granddaughter of Roal Dahl, but it might have been.
Either way, it was not a terrible book and parts of it were quite excellent!
