Sarah's Key
by Tatiana de Rosnay
I read this book a couple years ago after the movie came out. I saw a preview for the movie and had to see it. I saw the movie and was blown away, I absolutely LOVED the movie, so I had to read the book. I've read this book twice since then and I love it, still love the movie. The book is different, it goes in a different direction than the movie. The story line itself is amazing and I read it very quickly, I couldn't put it down. It's about a little girl who, with her mom, are taken away to be sent to a camp. The little girl locks her brother in a hidden closet so that he'll be safe when their dad gets back. The mom and little girl are taken away and they run into the dad coming back from town, so all three are taken away leaving the little boy locked in the closet. It's an incredible story about what this little girl goes through trying to save her brother. It also flashes back and forth between the past and present time with a reporter doing a story on the anniversary of that day when the French soldiers rounded up all the Jews to send them away. The reporter's husband also happens to own the apartment that Sarah and her family lived in before they were taken away. So the reporter finds out what happened to Sarah and her family. It's really an amazing read, I highly recommend it anyone!
