Rating for the whole series—this was enjoyable! I loved seeing all characters’ progressions throughout the revolution. Many of the characters(but not all) have great arcs. Certain characters have their books where they really shine, although I feel there were so many by the end that many fell off in this last book (such as Vrail). I enjoyed the revolutionary topics of the book, and the Indigenous-inspired magic system. I enjoyed seeing Keera through her addiction, and how it affected her decision-making. You can really tell Blair’s writing improved by this last book. Where I struggle is with the ending. It’s far too happy. There’s something really interesting about Gwyn’s descent into darkness, which begs the question of a spin off series. If there isn’t, that was introduced way too late and I would have loved to see more. I felt the same about the binding magic. Keera dying was too quick to care much about at all. Overall, I think this series delves into topics not typically breached by fantasy novels, but absolutely make sense in this world.
