I enjoy a good Murakami book and slow paced magical realism. However, I enjoyed the first half more than the second in this one. Many of the themes and imagery here is similar to other titles, but didn’t feel as effective to me as in Wind Up Bird Chronicles or Norwegian Wood. Apparently he finished this one much later in life, so maybe that’s why it felt a bit disjointed. Still worth reading if you’re a Murakami fan and like his writing style
