The Keeper of Happy Endings
by Barbara Davis
Mixed feelings about this one. On one hand, it had an interesting premise and I’m a big fan of the magical realism concept here. The backstory of the dress makers was intriguing as was the character development at the beginning. Pretty early on, the dress charms seemed to be a sideline detail though.
Some of the dialogue between characters was sporadic. As each chapter switches from each characters POV, some conversations seem to end abruptly or skimp on details whereas other seemingly less important conversations were repeated multiple times. It’s predictable and cheesy - the stars continued to align as “fate” and “destiny” took the wheel for the majority of the book.
