The tattooed girl and the football player / second chance / they were cyber pen pals/gaming buddies / forced proximity/roommates
I like this well enough but felt it lost momentum in the second half once they’d gotten together cause realistically there wasn’t a whole lot of plot going on for either of them, or much depth into their own stories. E.g. there were frequent references to Leo’s relationship with his dad but he didn’t appear in a single scene nor did they have one on-page conversation. It wasn’t a problem just an example of how the book didn’t really delve into anything too far.
I was pleased the 3rd act climax was resolved relatively quickly, that seems to be a pattern for this author. I will say that while I liked Leo as a character, he lacked some of the vim for me and the MMC, idk if it’s cause he was always on the back foot with having to grovel but I just felt like a lil bit of the fire was missing. I prefer a bit more antagonism when the FMC is being mean maybe.
