I always want to discover new authors. I have seen this book all over the book socials. So, I had to read it as it seems right up my street and oh my god, I LOVED it!
There are two points of views in this book. The first point of view is Anastasia Allen. She has worked her entire life for a shot at Team USA. A competitive figure skater since she was five-year-old, she has a full college scholarship thanks to her place on the Maple Hills skating team, and a schedule that would make the most driven person weep, Stassie comes to win. There is no expectations. The second point of view is Nathan Hawkins. He has never had a problem he couldn’t solve. As captain of the Maple Hills Titans, he knows the responsibility of keeping the hockey team on the ice rests on his shoulders. When a misunderstanding results in the two teams sharing a rink, and Anastasia’s partner gets hurt in the aftermath, Nate finds himself swapping his stick for tights, and one scary coach for an even scarier one. The pair find themselves stuck together in more ways than one, but it’s fine. Because Anastasia doesn’t like hockey players. This book is a contemporary new adult sports romance.
I love this relationship between these two characters (I mean, I would love Nathan Hawkins to myself, but I let Anastasia have him). This is the second sports romance I’ve read, and I think I’ve found a new favourite genre because I just loved it. I have NOTHING to hate about this book, it was bloody amazing. I liked the reverse grumpy x sunshine trope, and I loved the found family trope as well within this book. I appreciated that Hannah Grace targeted the eating disorder aspect of this especially in sports.
I just wanted more, I loved the epilogue, but I wanted more, this book could have been 1000 pages long and I still want more. I’ve seen that this is the first book of the series, and I might be slightly stalking to see when I can pre-order the next book.
Graphic: Eating disorder, Sexual content, and Toxic friendship
Moderate: Body shaming and Gaslighting
Minor: Sexual assault, Vomit, Death of parent, and Pregnancy
