Funny how this - set in the 1950s - feels more dated than In The Pursuit of Love, which is set in the 20s and 30s. It has occasional flashes of Mitford wit, but is probably only really enjoyable by those with very detailed knowledge of post-war Franco-British diplomatic relations.
