Disadvantage is a contemporary dark romance with fantasy elements attached to it. Cole and Kathryn meet through a mutual friend. He joins her TTRPG group, and catches her cheating on her rolls. The pair have instant chemistry, but Kat is in a tense relationship with a horrible man.

Something I really loved about this book was the unexpected vibes I had while reading it. It's a story unlike anything I've read before. I really love a contemporary story sprinkled with some fantasy, and that is exactly what Disadvantage provided. You have psychics, witches, gods, vampires and demons, but you also have what is essentially Dungeons & Dragons, and alligators.

Disadvantaged is fast-paced, and the content will keep you itching to find out what happens next. It is part of the Scavenger series, but you don't have to read the rest of the series to be able to follow Disadvantage. Granted, reading this book will make you want to read the rest of them!

I would definitely recommend this book to someone looking for a quick and dark read. I can't wait to read the rest of the Scavenger series, and I'm excited to see what's next from S.A. Burd!

I received and advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
