damn. no, dayum. penelope douglas knows how to write some mf smut. but like also this book had such a good plot too? i was kind of obsessed with the "i hate you but want to fuck you" dichotomy between ryen and misha, and also -- misha. holy shit i love this man.

while i really loved ryan's character throughout the book, misha was just *chef's kiss*. and the hate sex that these two had???? i need to ask the lord for forgiveness from the thoughts that this book inspired in me.

i actually highly recommend this to anyone who likes a bittersweet (w/ happy ending), smutty, overall fun book that is WRITTEN WELL. this is not written as an annoying "blah blah i'm an annoying high school girl" like so many "senior year" books are. like the complaining is little to nonexistent, and there's no cheesy text lingo or just like uncomfortable/try to be quirky features in the characters.

i only have a few nits to pick that i'll add down below d/t possible spoilers!

#1, why do they have to be in high school?? like i get that it's the reason the plot works, but this plot was very 13rw where,, yes,,,, it could happen high school,,,,,, but would it probably? no. honestly i feel that they should've been college seniors or something of the sort. the characters being aged up would've simply made more sense, and i think would've made the smut better. because yes, ryen and misha are both 18, but they're still literal children in high school in my eyes.

#2, did misha ever get the fucking bracelet thing from trey and his mom?? like this is not made clear through the resolution of the book. i get that he got the pictures, etc. of annie, but there wasn't a time where he was like "look i got this back from trey" bc when he's at the police station they couldn't find it on him? idk.

#3, how does your cousin just GIVE you a truck?? regardless, i'm hopping over to corrupt next bc i DID NOT know that these two story lines had mixed characters! and they went to jail!!! i know the hate sex is going to be mf crazy in corrupt

#4, i know that it happens irl, but i HATE in books when a homophobic character uses the f-slur. i feel like blatant homophobia is so overused especially in like 2000s and 2010s high-school set novels, and it's just unnecessary imo. find another plot point/reason for a character to be an awful human being.
