I loved Sarah Penner's The Lost Apothecary, but this one fell a little bit short. It felt like the premise was such a good one to be set up for such a good plot and I was interested in the wlw aspect, but it just overall felt like it was missing something. I'm not a huge fan of the teacher/student relationship dynamic and I never really fell in love with any characters. The wlw felt like an afterthought and the mystery seance aspect was central, but even then it didn't feel very intriguing. I also liked the idea of
multiple POV between the main character and the villain of the story
. Overall, a great idea but the execution just wasn't there.
