Magic Years by Selma H. Fraiberg
2.0
emotional slow-paced

This book was first published in 1959 and you can tell. The early years section is fine and generally vague and possibly less her area of expertise,  and the 3-6 year old section is very old fashioned. It's a relief that she doesn't condone spanking,  but instead advocates actively manipulating your young child's sense of guilt,  which is a little rough. Then comes the chapters on how to parent boys and girls and their Oedipus complexes,  which is very poor of date.  I didn't find this book super useful,  but it was somewhat less damaging than other books I've read.
