emotional reflective slow-paced

I’ve had this book hanging around in my kindle library for a really long time and I’m purposefully trying to read some books I already have so that I can dwindle down my TBR. (As if.) I was interested in this novel because of the historical elements as well as the LGBTQ+ characters. However, I found this book to be not exactly what I expected, though to be fair I had to look at it’s description again to remind myself of what it was about. And in all honesty…I struggled to get through it. I had a hard time liking the main character and an even harder time liking the other people in her life. I was much more interested in her experiences with the rodeo and once that portion was over, I was a little bored. That being said, I do think the writing is lovely. It’s such a well written book but it is also a tad predictable.
