Lost in the Moment and Found by Seanan McGuire

This is one of my favorite series ever. Mostly because the possibilities are endless and we never know for sure what kind of adventure is waiting for us. But also because every book makes us understand these kids and the worlds they're falling into. I was therefore really excited about this book, but it took Amazon ages to get it delivered to me. Even though I pre-ordered months in advance I only received it this week. So, I dove in right away!

The first part of the book was incredibly hard to read. Our heroine was a child by then. Very young. She had feelings and emotions and she liked or disliked people, but quite often she never understood how wrong it was what was happening to her and how much worse it was gonna get. Luckily she runs in time, but I can imagine that for some people this book hits very close to home and I can imagine most of them didn't have a door to give them a new one.

I absolutely loved the idea of there to be a place where all the Lost things go. That sock that disappears in the washing machine, the keychain you dropped in your haste. And children. And at first it was exciting. It was exciting to walk around in other worlds, to explore and travel and trade. To see how many worlds are out there and how many more stories the author can write. But like with all books not all is what it seems.

My heart broke in the last parts of the book when we discover what has been happening to this sweet girl deserving so much better. The author makes sure we feel her grief and anger and the betrayal. We also know that despite the fact that she wants to stay not many of our heroines and heroes have been that lucky. And yet, I think it's promising that this book shows us that every time someone or something gets lost there is always a place calling them home.

I can't wait for the next book!
