Father of Lies: The Complete Series by Steve Stred, Sonora Taylor
dark
tense
2.0
I picked this up in the recommendation of a friend and because it was only 4.99 for the complete set.
On and on I saw reviews saying things like, "don't read if you're squeamish" or how gory it was. Yes, it did have some gross stuff, but tbh, I didn't care about any of the characters. They were so one dimensional and flat. I guess the most interesting character was the demon the cult was trying to summon. But the use of current vernacular and use of slang was off-putting. Can't imagine a demon saying something like "trust the process". 🙄
I don't even think the story was worth 4.99 except for the author afterward where he revealed he accessed a cult on the dark web and may or may have not seen a demon summoned. Creepy stuff. Why would anyone want to do that?
All in all, not scary, not really that disturbing and poorly written.
