Bruja by Aileen Erin
3.0
Focused on Claudia and her trip to Peru, suggested at the end of the last book. I don't expect YA novels to be all that unique, but this one seems more canned than the earlier books in the series. It's too derivative and nothing unexpected happens. Also, the focus on Lucas' looks gets old really fast.
The only really good thing I'll say about this one is that Erin does a great job of having Claudia have a different voice. Too many authors aren't able to do that. For instance, McGuire, whose writing I usually like, can't really do it. Her books tell stories from different perspectives, but they all tend to sound almost identical. Claudia sounds very different from Tessa, and that's good to read.
