Too much hype for this.

200 and some odd pages. Not enough to capture me. However, I'm stubborn. And if I start a book, no matter how much I don't like it - I'll read it until the end. Which is unfortunate because now I will have to finish the series out since I started it.

I really hate to sound like I'm ragging on this author. I'm sure this author is a splendid writer. However, this book is giving me a high school student writing their very own first short story.

The plot idea was a good one. Just executed very poorly. The back and forth between the two main characters gave me a migraine. They both are very possessive and controlling. She wants him to be in her kids' life. But she wants to control every single aspect. He wants to be in the kids' life. But he wants it to be on his terms.

Very icky to me. From a person who witnessed her own parents horrible custody battle - this book reminded me of it.

From the hype of this book, I had hoped for a deeper connection. It was more of a "hey, big daddy movie connection but let's make it ✨️hockey. Death. Enemies to lovers✨️

Meh. I give it a 2/10. I wouldn't recommend it unless you're a fan of those super cheesy books that feel like you're reading a fanfic on wattpad or even YouTube story episodes (hey. No judgement. I was a middle schooler who posted these once. Lol!)
