the relationship between jean and muirin is so freeing to read, and as someone from nova scotia, it is so refreshing to read queer literature from my province. i absolutely loved this story and how it took events from real history and incorporated it into this retelling of a norwegian folktale. muirin is so lovable as a love interest, and jean is strong and unashamed in herself. i would genuinely love to see this book be adapted one day. what a joy.
