Everything Beautiful Is Not Ruined by Danielle Younge-Ullman

4.0

TW for suicide, sexual assault (neither of which I realised when I started reading, btw.)

So this was actually A LOT better than I expected it to be? I bought it on a whim because it sounded really interesting and had great early reviews, and I was not disappointed. The book is kind of split between past and present, and both are really interesting - the past is all about our MC's mother who used to be an opera singer, and lots of complex family dynamics. Then we cross to the present, which is like a wilderness survival camp.

All the characters are so fleshed-out and interesting, and there are some really complex relationships. I also loved the letters that Ingrid wrote.

Overall, really recommend.
