What an ending to a series! This book was a little slow and I was going to give it 4 stars, but after that ending I had to bump it up.
I loved getting the background information about Hoa and the history of the world; it really brought things together. Watching Essun slowly lose her body during this story was agonizing but didn't make the inevitable ending of the book any less difficult to read. This was such a brilliant conclusion to this book's commentary about Motherhood, and the relationship of mankind with Father Earth. N.K. Jemisin is such a talented writer and has created such amazingly strong characters. THIS SERIES IS A MUST READ OK
