The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

5.0

The Perks of Being a Wallflower's wistful rate of solemn five stars determines my strong and yet reserved recommendation of the novel. The connection it can establish is top-notch due to its exceptional usage of epistolary. However, I am quite wary of the overall effect it might induce to some readers. My high recommendation is for high school students as the lessons might help them face the challenges of the adolescent phase.

The strengths of the novel are its simple and pleasant writing engaging the reader with every letter - it is as if Charlie is personally confessing to the reader his experiences, varied and diversified characterization that excellently represents a number of relevant societal issues for the adolescent phase as well as portraying one vital factor of resolution, and lastly, its outstanding usage of every elements to induce a resonating melancholic feeling for the main character's life experiences.
