We Were Restless Things by Cole Nagamatsu

I have a feeling that it would've been better as a contemporary than a fantasy book, and if the author wasn't as focused on one character out of all that are there. Also, it somehow has this vaguely "this is the right way of communicating" that is very constructed and in some points even felt like too much of a teaching moment or something. Plus the main pairing made my skin crawl especially after the note about how the only reason their parents weren't married was because one of them didn't believe in marriage, because if they were actually really married I really don't think it would've seem okay, although for me it didn't even the way it is in the book
But the idea was nice and I see where the TRC comparing comes from
