Puberty Blues
by Kathy Lette
This book is very Australian, which I find hilarious. (Too Australian for me and I'm a born and bred Aussie.)
A lot of people don't that that this is books is largely autobiographical so it's very interesting to read the perspective of an Aussie teenage girl in the 70's. It's also pretty disturbing. Very underage sex (well statutory rape actually) as well as some messed up views surrounding sex and relationships, drugs, rape, miscarriages. That being said, this book makes me wanna go surfing and live on the Gold Coast, wear Levi's, grow my hair out, and be tan (this book has a very good aesthetic). I really enjoyed the ending and how the girls grew as characters. I've never been particularly interested in the tv series before but I'll have to give it a go now.
