emotional funny lighthearted fast-paced

Elizabeth from the Convergent Books Marketing Team kindly reached out to me and offered a copy of this poetry collection based on my interest in a collection I read earlier in the year (Victoria Hutchins' Make Believe). I must admit, I had not heard of David Gate before, and prior to reading this I was not aware of his Instagram or any of his content--so I went into this with completely fresh eyes! This collection has some wonderful overarching themes on community, togetherness, and humanity, with a slant towards religion and of course the social media references sprinkled here and there. I enjoyed this collection!

Unfortunately it didn't speak to me as much as Hutchins' work does, but I do think it's full of heart and the care of the author is clear to see in every section. Standouts to me were "Tell Me About Your Person," "Nomenclature," and "Vinegar." I'd recommend this collection to people that enjoy lighthearted poetry, parents of any kind, and folks that want to spread a little more joy to those around them.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Convergent Books for an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book!
