The Whitechapel Fiend
by Cassandra Clare, Maureen Johnson
This was by far, one of my favourite novellas, ever. It had some amazing time jumps, from today at the Academy to Victorian London, when Tessa recounts to Simon and the students about how she, her husband (Will) and their Jem, as well as Gabriel and Will’s sister Cecily, stopped the Whitechapel murders.
What an amazing twist on the Ripper murders, and I loved the appearances of so many beloved characters! I felt so nostalgic and definitely all the emotions when I was reading this; I didn’t want it to end! The detail that Cassandra Clare and Maureen Johnson wrote in was amazing; this novella had a perfect pacing and I couldn’t get enough! I loved the interactions between each character and I definitely want more – I hope Tessa and Jem appear in other stories too! But these novels honestly cover so many time jumps, it’s amazing. These are perfection so far and definitely are going on my favourites list! They’re everything I was hoping them to be and more! And I loved Jace’s playfulness towards Simon, and Simon’s thoughts on Izzy!
