I have always loved Fried Green Tomatoes (the movie) and the book of course but it's been about 15 years since I've read it & I certainly was not disappointed with this reread. Touchingly sweet, comical, & lively, Fannie Flagg truly delivers in this novel. The characters are vivid and courageous . What I love about this novel is how she lightly touches upon important subjects such as black slavery and black rights, sexuality, and attitudes of the south. You'll laugh, cry and fall in love with Idgie, Big George, Ninny, Evelyn and all the other quirky, beautiful characters in this classic folksy tale.

Five out of five! An amazing spring/summer read! <3
