This book was described as being hilarious, entertaining, and charming, though it was mostly a collection of dull adventures with little plot. It could’ve ended much earlier than it did, as it felt like an entirely new story had begun and suddenly “It’s the end! It’s the end…” appeared. This novel’s theme seemed to be to avoid running from your fears, except for if you come across an attractive man who flatters you, then you should certainly run as far as possible. Excluding the flaws in the story, this was well written, containing wise insights and strong development in the main character. Overall, the intelligent writing of Elaine Dundy was not enough to improve the slow, tedious plot.
