This simply did not give what I wanted it to give. The beginning? Honestly not bad - I was kinda on the train until about 30% where it started to go down hill. After about 60% of the way through? This is a slog. Like literally hard to read.
I told myself yesterday I was GOING to finish it as my kindle said I had about an hour and a half left. After maybe 15 minutes of reading I fell asleep for 2 hours. Simply there is not enough to keep me going.
The plot points become unclear an confusing, there is not enough base explanation and the parts that are supposed to leave mystery in the beginning actually just make the writing bad. Overall mediocre writing, not wattpad level but not good.
I wanted to like this so bad, but I feel like the “slow burn” didn’t hit. I actually think the book would’ve been better from Gabby’s POV because the “bad” sister thing is obnoxious. Dianna is very “I’m too cool for you” and then “I’m not good enough” in the span of a page. Her character just doesn’t track. Liam? I didn’t hate at all. I think he should’ve been more alien/godly rather than picking up lingo.
Another huge pet peeve of mine-why didn’t they just keep their original names??? Samkiel is better than Liam. Same with Logan and Vincent, I feel like the book looses some of the celestial charm in this way. Also Ig’Morruthen?????? Where in gods name did that word come from and why. Also literally it was never explained what exactly an Ig’Morruthen is or like what they can do or why they are all different or what Kaden is etc.
I finished this book at 83% so its technically a DNF but you could not pay me to finish this.
