Teen Titans: Earth One, Volume 1 by Jeff Lemire

2.0

2.5. This was... something. As far as reimaginings go, this one has a pretty decent idea for an origin, with everyone getting their powers from Starfire's spliced DNA. It was just executed poorly. It was weirdly rushed and slow at the same time, we speed past plot points, but don't end up that far from where we started. No one was especially likeable, but I did like Tara and Vic together, and Raven was cool. The characters never really felt like a team though. The parents were kind of despicable, Steve didn't deserve what happened to him (why was he shot in the first place?) and Slade was pretty pathetic (he looked a generic henchman in a stupid costume). I swear, the "twist" was laughably bad. Was I supposed to be surprised? I preferred Jericho in The Judas Contract. The art was OK, the story had potential, but overall it was meh.
