My partner and I liked this book way more than Strange Houses. It has a cool mystery that kept us hooked as well as a very satisfying ending. Sometimes it was difficult to keep characters straight, (how they related to each other, who’s who, etc.), but the ending and plot was WAY easier to understand and keep track of than in Strange Houses. In my opinion, there were some leaps in logic when solving the mystery, so that made it a little less believable. Overall though, a fun and unique horror mystery!
Graphic: Animal cruelty, Death, Death of parent, Murder
Moderate: Cancer, Child abuse, Gore, Rape, Sexual assault, Suicide, Terminal illness, Blood
Minor: Adult/minor relationship, Animal death
An animal is seen being killed but does not end up dying. A child is hit as a form of discipline. Two characters commit suicide, but it is revealed that one of those suicides was actually a murder. Multiple characters are murdered throughout the novel, and the plot focuses on a murder mystery. These murders are described in detail. A character has nonconsensual sex with a man as part of a deal for another character’s safety. A character is diagnosed with terminal cancer.
