How to Prevent the Next Pandemic by Bill Gates

3.0

While I enjoyed and learned a lot from Gates' last book [b:How to Avoid a Climate Disaster: The Solutions We Have and the Breakthroughs We Need|52908942|How to Avoid a Climate Disaster The Solutions We Have and the Breakthroughs We Need|Bill Gates|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1603822695l/52908942._SX50_.jpg|73626311], this one comes off as unnecessary and mansplaining to me. I still think it's very noble of him to use his wealth and influence in endeavors to alleviate human suffering, but some sentences in this book gave me a chilling sense of "God complex".

Gates summaries the key points to prevent the next pandemic from the very beginning of case reporting & monitoring down to vaccines production & global distribution. These conclusions all seem very self-evident to me and a lot of these action items simply boil down to more healthcare spending. Still interesting for a quick read as it's a short book, but nothing truly insightful.
