The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab

3.0

The world is wide, and he’s seen so little of it with his own eyes. He wants to travel, to take photos, listen to other people’s stories, maybe make some of his own. After all, life seems very long sometimes, but he knows it will go so fast, and he doesn’t want to miss a moment.

The premise (from the first few pages, for I do not read the synopsis) is really intriguing and overall it is beautifully written, lyrical, and detailed, which made the whole thing seems slow paced. Personally, I am quite fond of books that dwells with time as the main theme and I have to say that this one is strange and odd in a good way, with Addie and Henry’s time being the polar opposite. For some reasons, Addie, is kinda unfathomable to me. I don’t really understand why she didn’t give in, with her way of living and having to do it for centuries… wow I would have gone mad. But!! I really enjoyed reading her little ventures through the centuries and the marks she left behind in many medium of arts. Henry being the only one to remember Addie was pretty much expected but still when he said I remember you, I was so relieved. I personally liked Henry’s character arc more, because he is so much more relatable to me. And Luc!! Oh he is a total asshole but not the kind of asshole I would hate.

The plot is fine. I feel like it’s lacking something, but I cannot find what it is, I just feel like it’s not whole. And I’m not very fond of the ending, I was quite furious at first, but then seeing what Henry made out of it I think it’s not so bad. In conclusion, it’s good but that’s all there to it, nothing less and nothing more.
