My third Poirot! The first 50 pages and the last 70 pages are a delight but I started to lose concentration around halfway through. This slightly suffers from the Hastings narration, which can be boring at times, alongside the fact that the characters aren't very strong? When I compare this story to one like Death on the Nile I get really disappointed because Christie knows how to write really wicked, detestable people. It's a shame this book isn't longer by some degree because I wanted more out of these characters. Give me more time with Betty Barnard, Mrs Ascher and so on! Give me more of the excellent POV chapters from Cust's view of events! I will say that the twist surprised me.
