Artemisia’s story haunted me for weeks after I read it, especially knowing that this was based on a true story. This is an incredibly timely read during the era of the #metoo movement. Although it was painful to experience her sexual assault along with her and the pains of deciding to come forward about it or not, her strength - mostly drawn from her mother’s stories purposefully chosen from the Bible - was and still is inspiring. This book shows how far society has come as well as how far we still need to go.
