Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia

I didn’t like this book at the beginning but then it got a lot better as the story went on. I really liked Eliza’s character but I also found her really annoying at the same time. The whole concept of this book was great and I loved how she was dealing with her “fame”. I hunk Eliza’s brothers were my favorite characters. They were so annoying at the beginning but by the end they were such good characters. The way they stood up for Eliza was amazing!!!! They reminded me of my little brother a lot.
I probably would have given this book 4 Stars if it weren’t for the scene when Eliza is in the hospital and the doctor is explaining that she had a panic attack, what panic disorder is, and that she might have it. I HATED this. As someone who has been officially diagnosed and treated for Panic Disorder I can tell you that most of he information he told her was wrong. You do NOT have panic disorder if you have one panic attack and I do not think that you should even bring up the possibility of the disorder unless the situation calls for it. Also I am pretty damn sure that Eliza did not even have a panic attack. It was an anxiety attack. Granted, a really bad anxiety attack, but an anxiety attack. Panic attacks are sudden, extreme, and often times happen without a trigger. They occur at random times for random reasons and it sucks. Anxiety attacks are gradual, generally last longer than panic attacks, and most of the time are triggered by something. Eliza’s identity being revealed in definitely a trigger! She was nervous all day up until that point and lunch just threw her over the edge! She was overwhelmed! It happens! But in my mind, that was not a panic attack. I’m sorry. Rant over.
